- (a-S)-a-Hydroxybenzenebutanoic Acid
- 2-(S)-Hydroxy-4-Phenyl-Butyric Acid
- (2S)-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoic acid
(S)-2-Hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid is a derivative of the amino acid β-alanine. It is an experimental solubility data for amines and other compounds. (S)-2-Hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid has been shown to have a high affinity for histidine, which may be due to its interaction with the active site of the enzyme. The pH of the solution determines whether it will exist as a chiral or racemic mixture, with higher concentrations of alkali making it appear more racemic. (S)-2-Hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid has been found to be soluble in organic solvents such as Naphthylamine and Ethanol.
