Hexaoxa-1,10-diazabicyclo[8.8.8]hexacosane (HODHB) is a hexacyclic trisodium salt of a diaza-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon that has been used as an imaging agent for cancer tissues. The HODHB ion is formed in the presence of sodium salts and hydrogen fluoride and reacts with nitrogen atoms to form amyloid protein complexes. These complexes are then detected using diagnostic techniques such as preparative high performance liquid chromatography or titration calorimetry. Thermodynamic data was obtained by studying the reaction solution and reaction mechanism. Pharmacokinetic properties were investigated by measuring the stability of complexes in the blood stream over time.
