Descrizione

5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) is a monoamine neurotransmitter that regulates many physiological processes, such as mood, appetite, and sleep. 5-HT binds to the 5-HT receptor, which is found in various parts of the body, including the brain and gastrointestinal tract. A decrease in 5-HT concentrations has been associated with hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer. The biological sample used for this test was blood plasma collected from a human subject. The concentration of 5-HT in this sample was determined by measuring the amount of free base form of the compound using an enzyme assay.
