Heptafluorobutyramide is a cell nuclei-specific amide compound that is used as a chemical ionization agent in mass spectrometry. Heptafluorobutyramide has been shown to be effective in the sample preparation of biological samples such as urine, blood and tissue. It has also been used in cancer research, where it was found to inhibit protein synthesis and induce morphological changes in cancer cells. This chemical has also been used for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and other organic compounds through its ability to selectively bind to amines.
