4'-Heptylacetophenone is a natural antioxidant that has been found to scavenge free radicals. It can be extracted from the dried fruit of the plant Piper longum L. (Piperaceae). 4'-Heptylacetophenone has shown neuroprotective properties in vitro and in vivo studies, as well as pharmacological effects. It is used in pharmacies as an herbal product for various purposes, including treatment of cough, cold, bronchitis, and other conditions.
