Descrizione

Hyrcanoside is a natural product that has been isolated from the roots of Hyrcanum erythrocarpum. It is an all-trans retinoic acid analog and its structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. Hyrcanoside is toxic to heart tissue in vitro and induces cardiac hypertrophy in rats. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to inhibition of phospholipase A2 activity. Hyrcanoside may have potential as a treatment for autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, or psoriasis.
