17-Hydroxy-6alpha-(trifluoromethyl)pregn-4-ene-3,20-dione 17-acetate is a synthetic progestin that is used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases and cancers. It binds to the cb2 cannabinoid receptor, which has been shown to be involved in the regulation of immune responses and inflammation. The compound also inhibits the production of estradiol benzoate (EBB), which is a metabolite of estradiol that can cause breast cancer. This inhibition may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of EBB by liver cells. 17-Hydroxy-6alpha-(trifluoromethyl)pregn-4-ene-3,20-dione 17 acetate has been shown to have a positive effect on women with autoimmune diseases because it blocks the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines.
