6-Isopropylquinoline is a hydrophobic, intramolecular hydrogen-bonding molecule. It is a quinoline derivative that has been shown to inhibit the activity of lipases. The inhibition of lipases prevents hydrolysis of triglycerides and phospholipids, which are important for cellular functions such as energy production and membrane integrity. 6-Isopropylquinoline has also been shown to be an antifungal agent with bifunctional activity against Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans. This compound also has physicochemical properties that make it useful in the synthesis of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).
