5-Isocyanato-1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene is an organic chemical that is used in the manufacture of other chemicals. It has been shown to have bronchial and expectorant properties. 5-Isocyanato-1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene can be used as a source of piperidine and heterocycles. The compound has antioxidant activity and has been shown to have antiinflammatory effects in rats. 5-Isocyanato-1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene also has chemotactic effects on neutrophils and macrophages and an inhibitory effect on inflammation. The compound is a surfactant with a basic nitrogen atom that causes conformational changes in the molecule with an iminium group that can act as an oxidizing agent or as a reducing agent.
