Isobutylboronic acid pinacol ester is an enantiopure, primary alkyl boronate that can be used as a chiral source. It is synthesized by the reaction of butyllithium with isobutylboronic acid and triethylamine in ether. Isobutylboronic acid pinacol ester has been shown to react with chlorides to form lithiated products.
