Isoquinolin-4-ol is a chemical compound that contains an intramolecular hydrogen bond. This molecule has a reactive hydroxyl group, which can be protonated or deprotonated depending on the pH. Isoquinolin-4-ol is an antibacterial agent in its neutral form and is sulfonated to form the corresponding sulfonic acid. This prevents bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis and DNA replication.
