1H-Indazole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester is a cytosolic phospholipase A2 inhibitor. It inhibits the production of arachidonic acid, which is the precursor for pro-inflammatory prostaglandins, by inhibiting the cytosolic phospholipase A2 enzyme in the intestine and liver. 1H-Indazole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester has been shown to have inhibitory effects against inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The mechanism of action of this drug is due to its ability to inhibit the production of substances that promote inflammation. 1H-Indazole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester also has an inhibitory effect on cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit angiogenesis and cell proliferation.
