- 7-(1H)Indazole carboxylic acid methyl ester
7-Indazole carboxylic acid methyl ester is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against some Gram-positive bacteria and fungi. This compound binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. It also inhibits the biosynthesis of bacterial cell walls, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis. 7-Indazole carboxylic acid methyl ester has been shown to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans.
