- 3-Iodopicolinic acid
- 2-Pyridinecarboxylic Acid, 3-Iodo-
Narciclasine is an organic compound that contains a pyridine-2-carboxylic acid and three iodine groups. It is an isomer of diethyl malonate and deprotonation of the malonic ester with hydrochloric acid yields the corresponding carboxylic acid. The acetoacetate isomerizes to give naphthyridine, which is then reduced by hydroxylamine to give amines. Narciclasine has been shown to have anticancer properties in cells, which is likely due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of DNA, RNA and protein.
