KC7F2 is a potential prostate cancer biomarker that can be used to identify and differentiate prostate cancer cells from normal cells. KC7F2 is an expression plasmid that encodes for a protein with angiogenic factors, which are proteins that promote the formation of new blood vessels. The protein encoded by KC7F2 also has anti-apoptotic properties. This protein may be useful as an anticancer agent because of its ability to induce apoptosis in prostate cancer cells, as well as other types of cancer cells. KC7F2 induces cell signaling pathways and mitochondrial membrane potential changes in the cancer cell, which leads to the activation of reactive oxygen species and fatty acid radicals that induce apoptosis.
