Lensiprazine is a 5-HT7 receptor antagonist that has been studied as a pharmacological agent for the treatment of schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders. It has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, cancer, and side effects from other medications. Lensiprazine binds to the 5-HT7 receptor and blocks its activity, which may help reduce symptoms of depression. The biological properties of lensiprazine are similar to those of ziprasidone, which is used in the treatment of schizophrenia.
Lensiprazine is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and excreted through urine or bile into feces. It has a short half-life because it undergoes rapid hepatic metabolism. Lensiprazine can be administered orally or intravenously, with oral administration being more common.
