Lithium tertiary butoxide is a reagent that is used for the production of epoxides. It is usually used as a solvent and as an additive to prevent polymerization. Lithium tertiary butoxide can be used as a polymerization initiator in non-halogenated systems and has been shown to be useful in the synthesis of polymers with functional groups p2. The kinetic data and activation energies for this compound were obtained by magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
