L-Lysine L-glutamate dihydrate is a salt of L-lysine and L-glutamic acid. It is used as an additive in animal feed to promote weight gain, improve feed efficiency, and prevent the development of fatty liver disease. This product has been shown to have hemolytic activity in vitro. It also contains sodium, which may contribute to hypertension by raising blood pressure or increasing fluid retention. The chemical structure of this substance includes a hydrogen tartrate group, which can be metabolized by microbial enzymes.
