Descrizione

L(-)-2-Octanol is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of primary alcohols. It is a liquid with a boiling point of 176 degrees Celsius. L(-)-2-Octanol has been shown to be an excellent substrate for the production of organic solvents and methyl ketones by reaction with ethylene oxide, formaldehyde, and acetaldehyde. L(-)-2-Octanol can also be utilised in asymmetric synthesis reactions due to its ability to react with both hydroxy groups. The reaction rate of L(-)-2-octanol is affected by the concentration of hydroxyl groups on the molecule, which in turn affects the reaction rate. This product is also used as an environmental pollution control agent because it has been shown to remove volatile oils from water at high concentrations, including pentane and hexane. L(-)-2-Octanol can be immobilised by reacting it with silica gel or other organic solids and used as a catalyst for various
