2-Methyl-2-propanyl 4-[2-amino-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1-piperazinecarboxylate (TFPP) is an inhibitor of the enzyme phospholipase A2, which is involved in the synthesis of eicosanoids. It has been shown to decrease blood pressure and relieve symptoms in people with high blood pressure. TFPP has also been used as an antiepileptic agent in patients with niemann-pick disease and a model system for studying fibroblasts. TFPP has been shown to be cataleptic in invitro studies on mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by blocking the translocation of ribosomes. This drug may also have a role in regulating endogenous levels of leukotrienes and prostaglandins.
