Methyl-6-aminonicotinate is a hydrogen bonding compound. It has a molecular electrostatic potential of -2.8 eV, which is typical for hydrogen bonding compounds. Methyl-6-aminonicotinate has been shown to be safe in humans, and has been patented in China as an anti-malarial drug. The detection time of methyl-6-aminonicotinic acid can be shortened by using ethyl bromoacetate as the sample pretreatment agent. Molecular docking analysis has revealed that methyl-6-aminonicotinic acid binds to the 6th amino acid residue on the enzyme fatty acid synthase (FAS). The carbonyl group of this molecule interacts with the hydroxyl group of Serine, leading to its inhibition and inhibiting fatty acid synthesis.
