5-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. It has an optimum concentration of 0.5 mM and is most effective when used at low concentrations. This molecule has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase in vitro and in vivo. The kinetic properties for this compound have also been determined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization techniques, which are both methods that measure the changes in current or potential across an electrode as a function of time. 5-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine has been found to inhibit acetylcholinesterase with an efficiency of 85%.
