Methyl 4-(1,3-dioxan-2-yl)benzoate is an efficient catalyst for the cyclohexane ring opening reaction. It is a nanostructured material that can be used as a pharmaceutical product. Methyl 4-(1,3-dioxan-2-yl)benzoate was synthesized in a one step process from methyl benzoate and cyclohexane using RuCl 3 as a catalyst. The synthesis of this compound has been shown to proceed with high yields (up to 99%) and high selectivity (up to 98%). The catalytic activity of methyl 4-(1,3-dioxan-2-yl)benzoate has been investigated by XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, and TGA. The absorption spectrum of the material showed bands at 690 nm and 810 nm corresponding to C=C stretching vibrations. This material is homogeneously distributed in the solid state and crystallizes
