1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)piperazine is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of amines. It is used in the preparation of urine samples for the detection and analysis of monoamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine, epinephrine, and serotonin. This drug has been shown to decrease locomotor activity in vivo and has been reported to act on human liver isoenzymes. 1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)piperazine also binds to human monoamine receptors and inhibits their uptake.
