Methylpyrrole-1-carboxylate is a synthetic that can be used as a Grignard reagent. It is an inhibitor of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which are involved in the transmission of signals from the central nervous system to muscle cells. Methylpyrrole-1-carboxylate has been shown to inhibit the chloride channel in frog skin, which may lead to the potential for use in treating pain. The UV absorption spectrum of methylpyrrole-1-carboxylate allowed for its identification and determination of its structure by nmr spectra. Additionally, methylpyrrole-1-carboxylate can be used as a formylation agent and product synthesis.
