3-Methylenecyclobutanecarboxylicacid is a fatty acid that can be found in the essential oils of plants, such as α-pinene. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the biosynthesis of carboxylic acids and enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis. 3-Methylenecyclobutanecarboxylicacid has also been shown to have insulin-like growth factor-i (IGF-I) activity. This compound is not toxic when administered orally or intravenously, but it is acutely toxic when administered by inhalation.
