Descrizione

3-1-Menthoxypropane-1,2-diol is a prodrug that is activated by the enzyme phospholipase A2. The activated form of 3-1-Menthoxypropane-1,2-diol binds to κ opioid receptors and inhibits the production of neurokinin 1 receptor. This drug has been shown to be effective against MRSA and other bacterial infections. The inactive form of 3-1-Menthoxypropane-1,2-diol has been shown to have antimicrobial effects on skin cells and can activate some inflammatory responses in cells in culture. 3-1 Menthoxypropane 1,2 diol also has a molecular weight of 709. It is structurally related to heparin and estrone sulfate (ES).
