3-Methylcyclobutanecarboxylic acid is a chemical compound that is synthesized by the transfer of a methyl group from dimethyl to 3-methylcyclobutane carboxylate. This reaction is catalysed by hydrochloric acid and requires phase transfer catalysis. 3-Methylcyclobutanecarboxylic acid has two carboxyl groups and can be used for the synthesis of other compounds. The yield of this transformation is high, with an approximate yield of 98%.
