Descrizione

1-Methyl-3-phenylpropylamine is a drug that belongs to the class of antihypertensive agents. It is an enantiomeric mixture of two stereoisomers: (+)-1-methyl-3-phenylpropylamine and (-)-1-methyl-3-phenylpropylamine. The (+) form has been shown to have stronger effects on the human body than the (-) form. The (+) form binds to alpha receptors in the brain, leading to vasoconstriction and reduced blood pressure. It also blocks beta receptors, which are responsible for stimulating heart rate and cardiac output. 1MPPA is metabolized by amines such as hydrochloric acid, which leads to an increase in blood pressure. This drug is typically used in cases of hypertension and hypotension, but may be ineffective if taken with labetalol or other drugs that block alpha receptors.
