It is synthesized from 2,6-dimethoxybenzoic acid and 3-methylpyridine in three steps using a series of reactions. 2-Methyl-6-methoxypyridine-3-boronic acid has been studied as a potential antidepressant drug with pharmacokinetic properties that are favorable for oral administration.
