β-Methylstyrene(Mixture of Cis-Trans isomers) is a chemical that can inhibit certain enzymes. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme hydroxylase, which is involved in the formation of bile acids. β-Methylstyrene(Mixture of Cis-Trans isomers) has been used as a marker for identifying cancerous and pre-cancerous tissue in urine samples. β-Methylstyrene(Mixture of Cis-Trans isomers) has also been found to be an effective treatment for squamous carcinoma. This compound is not toxic to humans because it does not activate in the body. The compound can be detected by gas chromatography with electron capture detection (GC/ECD).
