Descrizione

3-Methylbenzothiazole-2-thione is a molecule that has the ability to bind with DNA and RNA. It can be used in the treatment of cancer cells, by binding to nucleophilic sites on the DNA molecule and inhibiting transcription. The 3-methylbenzothiazole-2-thione molecule is also able to bind with human osteosarcoma cells, which are more sensitive to this type of drug than normal cells. This agent is able to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as staphylococcus, by attacking the bacteria's DNA. 3-Methylbenzothiazole-2-thione can be synthesized from trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and halides. The fluorescent properties of 3-methylbenzothiazole-2-thione make it an ideal candidate for use in biological research.
