Methyl phenylsulfonylacetate is a compound that belongs to the group of aliphatic hydrocarbons. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on pancreatitis, cross-linking agent, and high cholesterol. Methyl phenylsulfonylacetate also inhibits wild-type mice with hyperlipidemia by reducing the production of lipids and cholesterol in their livers. This active methylene has been used as a signal transducer for inflammatory diseases and dyslipidemia. The asymmetric synthesis of this compound is achieved through the use of sodium carbonate as a base catalyst and anhydrous sodium as a reagent.
