4-Methacryloyloxyethyl trimellitic anhydride is a monomer that belongs to the group of glycol ethers. It has hydroxyl groups and is able to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules, which may be due to its cavity structure. The chemical interactions of 4-methacryloyloxyethyl trimellitic anhydride are significant, as it reacts with many different compounds, including polymeric matrices. This compound has been used in the synthesis of 10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (MPDA), which is a key component for the preparation of zirconium oxide nanoparticles. 4-Methacryloyloxyethyl trimellitic anhydride was also shown to have cytotoxic effects on human macrophages and cell cultures in vitro.
