Methyl d-mandelate is a chemical compound that can be obtained by the reaction of mandelic acid with methanol. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and has a sweet taste. Methyl d-mandelate has been shown to be an efficient method for the production of biodiesel. Methyl d-mandelate can be used as an additive in microbial transformation reactions, such as the conversion of esters to alcohols and the transformation of biomass into bioethanol.
