17b-Methyl epi-Trichloropyridyltentagel (17b-METPT) is a synthetic hormone that can be used to treat the symptoms of menopause in women. 17b-METPT is a derivative of estradiol and binds to estrogen receptors, leading to an increase in estrogen levels. 17b-METPT has been shown to stimulate growth in animals. It also increases the excretory function of the kidney, and may have a protective effect on the kidneys. 17b-METPT is not active as an antifungal or antibacterial agent.
