Descrizione:
1-(Methylthio)pentan-3-one (MTOP) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that is used in the treatment of a number of bacterial infections. MTOP inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 30S subunit and preventing peptide chain formation. It has been shown to produce volatile compounds with high concentrations, which may contribute to its ability to kill or inhibit the growth of organisms. The profile of MTOP can be analysed by examining the changes in the rhizosphere, metabolites, and mutants.
