3-Methylbenzene-1-carbothioamide is a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) stationary phase. It is a reproducible, centroid calibration standard for the analysis of isonitriles. The chloride ion in 3-methylbenzene-1-carbothioamide allows it to be used as an indicator in reversed phase HPLC systems, and its dihedral angle can be used to distinguish between different heterobicyclic compounds. This compound also has a low absorbance at 254 nm and is suitable for photometric detection instead of using ultraviolet light. 3-Methylbenzene-1-carbothioamide’s advances include an improved resolution, increased sensitivity, and better reproducibility over other HPLC stationary phases.
