3-Methyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of enzyme inhibitors. It is a molecule with biological properties that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on infectious diseases. 3-Methyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one inhibits the activity of sulfamic acid and diazonium salt, which are used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria and fungi. 3MPO has been shown to be effective against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 3MPO binds to chondroitin sulfate, which is found in cartilage and bone, inhibiting its action as an inflammatory agent. The compound also binds to pyrazole ring in enzymes such as acetylcholinesterase, preventing them from functioning properly.
