3-Methyl-4-nitropyrazole is a heterocyclic compound containing a nitropyridine ring. It has been shown to be an effective antiandrogen in the treatment of prostate cancer. 3-Methyl-4-nitropyrazole is metabolized by the body into 3,5,6-trichloro-2,4, or 2,3,5,6-tetrachloroquinazoline. This process occurs through the isomerization of methyl groups from the 4 position to the 3 position on the pyridine ring. The chemical name for 3-methyl-4 nitropyrazole is 1-(3'-chloro[1]pyridinio)-3'-methylpiperidinium chloride and its reactivity can be determined using xray analysis.
