Methyl furfuryl disulfide is a white crystalline solid that can be obtained by reacting furfuryl acetate with hydrochloric acid and hydrogen sulfide. Methyl furfuryl disulfide has been shown to react with butyric acid, generating a mass spectrometric signal.
