Descrizione

Methanemalonate is a low potency, high resistance metalloid that has coordination geometry and redox potential. It can be found in plant science and has shown anti-inflammatory properties in the model system of toll-like receptor. Methanemalonate is also used to study mitochondrial membrane potential and polymerase chain reactions. The most common use for this substance is as a chelating agent in studies of toxicity, which show that it protects cells from oxidative stress. Methanemalonate is not toxic to humans at doses below 5000 mg/kg body weight, but it may have some toxic effects on the liver at higher doses.
