5-(Methoxymethylene)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione is a synthetic compound that has antibacterial activity when used in the form of an enaminone. It is active against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria with minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 1.0 μg/mL or less. 5-(Methoxymethylene)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione is a potent antimicrobial agent that binds to the carbonyl group of 4 aminoantipyrine and forms a covalent bond with the electron deficient site on the molecule.
