N-Methyl-2-fluorobenzylamine is an inhibitor of caspase-3, which is an enzyme that initiates the process of apoptosis. It is a nonpolar molecule with a carboxylic acid group and a water molecule as its functional groups. N-Methyl-2-fluorobenzylamine has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in vitro and in vivo by preventing neuronal cell death induced by glutamate, hydrogen peroxide, or serum deprivation. This drug also has inhibitory activities against solvents such as benzene and chloroform, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with these molecules. N-Methyl-2-fluorobenzylamine is synthesised from propargyl amine and 2-fluorobenzaldehyde through nucleophilic addition followed by elimination. The active site of this drug contains a selegiline molecule that binds to the enzyme c
