Maleic acid disodium salt anhydrous (MADS) is a compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It has antimicrobial properties and can be used as an additive in injection solutions such as fluorescein, gentamicin, and atropine. Maleic acid disodium salt anhydrous has been shown to have biological properties that inhibit the growth of microorganisms. Maleic acid disodium salt anhydrous also inhibits the production of fumarate in energy metabolism, which is important for the production of ATP.
