1-Methyl-prop-2-ynylamine hydrochloride is a chiral, stereoisomeric compound that is a muscarinic antagonist. It has been shown to be an effective postsynaptic and presynaptic antagonist at the muscarinic receptors in rat brain. 1-Methyl-prop-2-ynylamine hydrochloride has been shown to be an effective chloride channel blocker, which may explain its ability to inhibit the secretion of stomach acid. This drug also has amnesic properties, which are likely caused by the inhibition of acetylcholine synthesis and release.
