Descrizione

5-Methylthio-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol is a heterocyclic compound that has two tautomers. The orientations of the molecule are dependent on the orientation of the lone electron pair. In its low energy form, the chloride ion is in between the two thiophene rings and oriented perpendicular to them. The molecules are stable in this orientation and can be drawn as a single conformation. When there is a high energy input into the system, such as UV light or heat, it can go from its low energy form to its high energy form. However, when it goes from one orientation to another, it is not an equilibrium process because there are different probability distributions for each of these states. This means that if there is a high concentration of one particular state at any given time, then it will spontaneously change to another state with lower probability distribution. The vibrational spectrum shows that there are multiple peaks at different frequencies
