Informazioni sul prodotto
- 6-Sulfanylhexanoic Acid
6-Mercaptohexanoic acid is a fluorescence probe that binds to epidermal growth factor (EGF) in the presence of hydrogen ions. The binding of 6-mercaptohexanoic acid to EGF induces a conformational change in the protein, which initiates a cascade of reactions leading to cell proliferation and differentiation. This molecule has also been shown to bind to odorant binding proteins, which are mainly responsible for detecting odors and pheromones. 6-mercaptohexanoic acid has also been used as an antimicrobial agent, because it inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis and DNA replication. This compound can be used as a hydrogen bond donor or acceptor, forming hydrogen bonds with the peptide backbone. It also reacts with epidermal growth factor receptor on the cell surface, initiating signal transduction pathways that lead to increased cell proliferation.
