4-Methoxybenzyl-4-methoxyphenyl ketone is a chemical that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It has been shown to inhibit the inflammatory response in mouse models of colitis and bowel disease. This compound also inhibits the growth of cancer cells, as well as receptor activity. 4-Methoxybenzyl-4-methoxyphenyl ketone has a hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring and is able to form an H bond with a hydrogen or hydroxide ion. The molecule's structure also includes an aromatic ring with a carbonyl group, which can be oxidized by nitric oxide to form nitro groups on the aromatic ring. 4-Methoxybenzyl-4-methoxyphenol ketone also binds to estrogen receptors, acting as an estrogen receptor modulator (ERM).
