a-Me-Gly(Allyl)-OH is an oxazolidinone that is synthesised by the asymmetric allylation of an aldehyde with glycine. It is used in the synthesis of biomolecules, such as peptides and proteins. The use of this oxazolidinone allows for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure products with a high yield. This compound has been shown to be hydrolysed by enzymes, such as proteases, in the body.
